Beth’s February Top Artists
Here are February’s Top Artists & their top songs!
10. Post Sex Nachos
Song of the Month: Growing Old
You guys, I saw this band live this week, and I can’t rave enough about them. I have loved their studio music for a year and some change now, and I can without a doubt say they were even better live. They were incredible at working the crowd, it was such a fun atmosphere. If you liked my Foxtide & The Backfires recommendation from last week, I think you’ll love Post Sex Nachos too!
9. Daryl Hall & John Oates
Song of the Month: Camellia
I got my boyfriend a Daryl Hall & John Oates album for Valentine’s Day, which resulted in a major resurgence of them for me. ‘70s music will always hold a special place in my heart, this iconic duo included!
8. Kaytranada
Song of the Month: Snap My Finger (feat PinkPantheress)
I adore Kaytranada. He’s one of those artists who feels like he’s always been part of my playlist—I can’t even remember when or how I first discovered him. All I know is that from the moment I had Spotify, Kaytranada was there. The way he blends R&B, Hip Hop, and House sounds is literally music to my ears; I can’t get enough. His 2024 album, TIMELESS, is incredible and has such fantastic features. Definitely give it a listen if you haven’t yet.
7. Doechii
Song of the Month: BOILED PEANUTS
I don’t know if y’all could tell from my Grammys article, but I love Doechii. I love Doechii so much. I love Doechii as a musician, as an artist, as a person, and everything in between. The level of artistry this woman puts into her every move is so admirable to me, she just gets it. And by it, I mean herself. She understands herself and her impact in a way that is so palpable in everything she does. And while we’re here, let's talk about her on the Dsquared2 runway. Fashion! I’m OBSESSED!
6. The Backfires
Song of the Month: Brighter Lights
Well, speak of the devil! As you know from January’s top artists article, I saw The Backfires live last month, and they were so great. They are definitely a band to watch, especially if you’re into music that makes you want to drive around screaming and singing with all the windows down.
5. Vetiver
Song of the Month: Sister
Another band that was on last month’s recap, and I am not surprised at all because I listen to Vetiver Radio on Spotify every night before I go to bed. You might notice that both of my songs of the month from them are off the same album, Tight Knit—and for good reason. It’s easily my favorite. “Sister” is actually my favorite song from Vetiver, period, so definitely give her a listen.
4. Sza
Song of the Month: Snooze
You already know how much I love Sza, so I doubt this one comes as a big surprise to anyone. Seeing her cheer on Doechii at the Grammys made me so damn happy, it warmed my heart. This month’s song, Snooze, has to be one of my favorites, but honestly, I don’t think I could ever pick just one. I love the hazy kind of sound it has, which perfectly compliments the lyrics about getting absolutely lost in love.
3. Men I Trust
Song of the Month: All Night
Another repeat from last month, all the way from 8 to 3! This jump makes so much sense to me because I definitely went through an Oncle Jazz phase this month. To be honest, I just simply listen to Men I Trust a lot every month. The weather was so beautiful in Chicago this week, so I took full advantage of my patio and played lots and lots of Men I Trust out there.
2. Suki Waterhouse
Song of the Month: To Love
Suki <3 My roommates and I finished watching Daisy Jones and the Six this month (so good, by the way), and I totally re-fell in love with Miss. Waterhouse. Suki’s airy, spacey female voice (you know I love that shit) does it for me every time. Her music is the perfect soundtrack for cold Winter nights. She also released a single this month, Dream Woman. This song is perfectly whimsical and evokes a deep sense of female yearning. I can’t recommend Suki enough for all your Winter listening needs.
1.Beyoncé
Song of the Month: TYRANT
Beyoncé at #1? Oh my gosh, are you shocked? I’m so shocked! This month’s song of the month is, of course, off Cowboy Carter because… your girl got tickets to see the rodeo, baby! I did, in fact, survive the Ticketmaster war this month, and I could not be more thankful, grateful, and blessed. TYRANT is perhaps my favorite song off the album, so she’s been going triple platinum in my bedroom all damn month in celebration. Also, I have a new theory on Act III, if you care. I still think it’s going to be a rock album. However, I don’t think it’s going to be solely a rock album. I think we’re going to get some soul, some jazz, some blues, some hip hop, and, dare I say, maybe even some gospel in the mix as well, because genres are a concept that are meant to be bent. Her words, not mine, but I’m in agreement, of course.
Happy Sunday, everyone! I hope you enjoyed this week’s article as much as I enjoyed reflecting on last month’s tunes! <3
Write you soon!
